A Seuss-sational Celebration

Hey ya'll! Whether you're a teacher celebrating one of the world's most beloved children's authors of all time with your class, or you're a mom planning a Seuss themed birthday party I'm hoping that you'll find this post to be helpful and inspiring along the way! I'm sharing how I celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday (March 2nd) in my classroom this year! We are a nut free classroom, so every one of these sweet treats was made with items that are processed in peanut/tree nut free facilities too!

Green Eggs and Ham!

What You'll Need:
  • Tiny Twist Pretzels
  • Ghiradelli White Melting Wafers (Found on the baking aisle at Kroger)
  • Green Sixlets (Found on the party aisle at Walmart)
  • An oven
  • A cookie sheet
  • Wax Paper or Aluminum Foil

Directions:
Preheat your oven to 250. Line a cookie sheet with wax paper or aluminum foil to create a non-stick surface and to make for a quick and easy clean up! Spread out the pretzels across the sheet. Place one white chocolate melt on each pretzel. Place in the oven for 2-3 minutes. Now that the chocolate has melted place one Sixlet on each melt. Place in the fridge or let sit for 10-15 to harden. Voila! You have delicious "Green Eggs and Ham" treats!

I also hopped on Microsoft Word a created a little gift tag for my coworkers! I found the clip art on Google Images and used a cutesy DJ Inkers font. I printed the tags onto white and green card stock. I used snack sized Ziploc bags and simply folded to tags over and stapled! They all LOVED this sweet and salty little treat!

Truffula Tree Cupcakes!

What You'll Need:
  • Mini Cupcakes (Available at Walmart Bakeries)
  • Paper Party Straws (Availble at craft stores and on the party aisle at Walmart)

Wintry Mix

If you're anything like me you're probably already counting down the days until SPRING! Late February and early March can be tough to style here in the South. The few short weeks of true Winter weather that we get is finally here, and all I can think about is sunshine! Well, before I put away my sweaters, scarves, and boots I thought I'd have one last Winter hurrah! So, in honor of today's weather... here's my Wintry Mix!

I truly love my Winter wardrobe, but sometimes dressing for the cold can make me feel a little blah. Here I've pulled in one of my Fall favorites- an Old Navy leopard print cardigan! I've layered it with a chambray button up to mix things up a bit! This exact cardigan is sold out, but you can get a similar one that's currently on clearance at Target.com!

Feeling frumpy in that knit sweater you've been bundled up in since November? Add a statement necklace and a pair of colored Jeggings to freshen up your look! My go to places for jewelry? J.Crew Factory, Charming Charlie, and Marley Lilly of course!

I know what you're thinking... "You can't wear white after Labor Day!" Well, ladies let me introduce you to a little something called 'Winter White!' I've paired white denim with this amazingly comfy Buffalo Plaid Tunic from Old Navy.

I don't know about y'all, but as far as I'm concerned cowboy boots are wardrobe staple in any season! Here I'm wearing a comfy, Aztec cardigan and a pair of pewter suede cowboy boots that I scored at a local boutique. This pair here is almost identical!

So you know that super short, super summery white lace dress that we all have hanging in our closets? Well, just add a pair of tights or leggings, a jacket, a scarf, and a pair of booties, and you've got yourself a whole new look! You'll definitely want to get one of these adorable monogrammed clutches from Marley Lilly to tie it all together. It's another one of those must-have, year round wardrobe staples in my book! If you're in the market for a pair of ankle boots I'd like to recommend this pair from Old Navy! They're super comfy, and this is coming from a girl who hardly ever wears a heal!

Sweaters on sweaters? Neutrals on neutrals? Why not? Here I've layered a sweater dress with one of my all time favorite cardigans. I scored this beauty on the clearance rack at Gap last Winter, and we've been madly in love ever since! Oh, and in case you were wondering... YES! The boots are Intyce by Steven Madden, and NO I did not pay full price. I had to wait for nearly two very long years, but I finally found them on eBay in my size. These amazing, genuine leather boots retail for about $130 if you're shopping at Steve Madden, but I snagged mine for $75 on eBay just because they were a display pair! Believe me, they are well worth the extra work and wait!

Happy Snow Day ya'll!
